I passionately believe our health & happiness is rooted in fuelling with the nourishment nature gifts us. In connecting to food as medicine and living seasonally. Remembering to take time out to slow down, replenish & sip healing elixirs often in a chaotic world that never stops.

Here is the perfect Autumn healing pumpkin spice latte recipe for you!

Who doesn’t love a warming pumpkin spice latte as the nights draw darker and the leaves get crisper? And did you know one of the key ingredients in this powerful elixir - allspice - holds magical money making properties!? Perfect for this weekend’s new moon solar eclipse in Libra.

It’s great to see so many brands jumping on the seasonal vibe with the PSL’s at this time of year as we know aligning with nature keeps us well. Yet, so many of the options are pumped full of unnecessary refined sugar syrups and are miles away from the nourishing, spiced seasonal hug in a mug that are meant to be. So here’s a high vibe, totally healing autumn favorite free of nasties.

Ingredients:

Makes 2 nourishing mug fulls.

2 cups water

8 tbsp organic pumpkin puree (see below to make your own)

1 tbsp high quality maple syrup

1 tbsp coconut oil (optional)

1 tsp cinnamon powder (+ a sprinkle for the top)

1/4 tsp ginger powder

1/4 tsp nutmeg powder

1/4 tsp allspice powder

1 1/2 cups oat milk (or milk of choice) be sure to check the ingredients for any hidden extras

Twist of sea salt & ground black pepper

Healing optional extras if available to you:

3 tbsp dried dandelion root

1/2 tsp ashwaganda (to soothe the nervous system)

To make fresh pumpkin puree:

Take an organic pumpkin, cut in half, scoop out seeds and pulp.

Place flesh side down on a baking sheet with a tbsp of coconut oil.

Roast in the oven at around 180 for 35 mins.

When gorgeously roasted scoop the flesh out from the peel.

Place in a food processor until velvety smooth

Method:

If using, measure the dandelion root into a small dry skillet and roast over medium low heat, stirring often so not to burn.

When they’ve turned slightly darker and are releasing their rooty aroma they’re ready.

Transfer the roasted roots into a small saucepan along with 2 cups of water.

Bring to the boil and turn down the heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.

Meanwhile mix the pumpkin puree, maple syrup, spices and any other optional ingredients together in a small bowl and blend.

After the root tea has simmered, strain & keep the liquid.

Measure 1 cup of the root tea into the blender and blend with the pumpkin mixture.

Gently heat the milk adding the coconut oil if using and removing from the heat just before it starts to boil.

Froth with a frother or by pouring into a jar with a tight lid and shaking until the milk has roughly doubled in volume.

Pour the blended tea into 2 cups (1/2 in each). Pour the milk over the tea to fill the cups.

Stir gently and top with a dash of cinnamon.

Make and enjoy with presence and intention.

Healing notes:

  • Pumpkin is particularly high in Vitamin A which can help to strengthen your immune system. It is also a good source of vitamins C and E. Pumpkin also contains antioxidants that can help neutralise free radicals that can lead to oxidative stress

  • All root-y veggies are great for grounding at this time of year as we shift into Vata season in Ayurveda and may get a little ‘in our heads’ as Vata is the air element of the three Ayurvedic dosha’s

  • Those with Vata as their predominant dosha don’t like to feel the cold so the warming spices in this elixir are also helpful for getting the blood moving and stimulating warmth

  • These pungent tasting spices also nourish the lungs which is important as we transition into the season of the lungs and metal element in Traditional Chinese Medicine

  • The cinnamon also helps to naturally balance blood sugar, a key component of hormone balance

  • Allspice has the magical properties of attracting money and luck and is a very uplifting herb that increases energy and determination - it helps to light a fire under you & give you all the perseverance needed to be successful getting a job done
