Roger Green — TCM Practitioner, Educator & Speaker · Bridging Ancient Healing Wisdom and Modern Longevity Science

Roger Green is one of the longest-practicing holistic health educators in the English-speaking world. A New Zealander based between London, Australia, and New York, he has spent four decades at the intersection of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic philosophy, ancestral nutrition, longevity science, and modern biohacking — long before many of those words became mainstream.

In 1986, he founded the Academy Healing Nutrition, which has since trained nearly 1,000 certified holistic health coaches and nutritionists across six continents. It is widely recognised as the world's longest-established school of its kind.

Roger's approach is deceptively simple: food is not fuel. It is information, medicine, and relationship — with the body, the season, and the ecosystem we inhabit. His teaching draws equally from the Nei Jing, modern longevity research, Taoist tonic herbalism, Ayurvedic constitutional medicine, and the traditional practices of cultures who have sustained exceptional health for generations.

He is a TCM practitioner and registered nurse, trained in shiatsu, and has spent decades working with private clients and teaching internationally. He is also a long-standing advocate for renewable energy and environmental stewardship, and has worked on water harvesting and soil regeneration projects across multiple continents.

His work sits at a rare and timely convergence: where ancient systems of healing are finally being validated by the science of longevity — and where the conversation mainstream culture is only just beginning to have, Roger has been having for forty years.

Embodying Wisdom

Roger isn't offering hot takes on the latest trend. He's offering forty years of pattern recognition — across Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, Taoist philosophy, and the modern science of longevity — distilled into something that sounds less like advice and more like remembering.

He speaks to the questions so many are circling:

  • Why does the body create symptoms — and what is it actually trying to say?

  • What did the Taoists understand about change and balance that modern medicine is only just rediscovering?

  • What do East and West each get right — and where do they need each other?

  • How do you build a daily life that supports the body's own intelligence, rather than overriding it?

  • What's genuinely promising in the new wave of longevity science — and how does it connect to things people have known for centuries?

He brings depth without dogma, authority without urgency, and a way of speaking that — even on a fast-paced podcast — tends to slow the room down. In the best way.

Conversation Topics

Food as Medicine Not a metaphor — a complete framework for understanding how what we eat directly causes proper or improper functioning of the body, mind, and spirit. The foundation of everything Roger teaches.

Yin Yang Theory and Daoism One of the oldest and most sophisticated models of change, balance, and natural rhythm ever developed — and one of the most practical for understanding why the body does what it does.

East-West Integration Forty years working where TCM, Ayurveda, and Western science overlap, conflict, and complete each other. What each tradition sees that the others miss — and what becomes possible when you stop choosing between them.

Barefoot Doctor Techniques The original community health model — self-care, preventive practice, and simple diagnostic tools drawn from Chinese medicine that anyone can learn. A living answer to the question of how we take responsibility for our own health.

Feng Shui and the Environment as Medicine How the spaces we inhabit affect our qi, our sleep, our nervous system, and our health. An ancient framework with striking resonance for modern conversations about light, EMF, architecture, and circadian biology.

Longevity Science — Ancient and Emerging From telomere biology to fasting protocols to circadian research: Roger has been tracking the convergence of modern longevity science and traditional observation for decades. Much of what's being "discovered" now, these systems already knew.

Adaptogenic and Tonic Herbs The role of tonic herbalism — reishi, astragalus, he shou wu, and others — in building resilience, supporting immunity, and extending vitality. Rooted in thousands of years of practice, increasingly validated by contemporary research.

Medicinal Mushrooms Long before lion's mane and chaga entered the wellness mainstream, Roger was teaching their use within the broader context of Daoist tonic herbalism. How to think about mushrooms as a category — not just as supplements, but as a relationship with the fungal kingdom.

Breakthrough Science and the Frontier of Healing Roger has spent decades watching the edge of where science and ancient wisdom converge — from electromagnetic wave therapies to the emerging field of biofield science. He brings a practitioner's discernment: curious, rigorous, and uninterested in hype.

"From the East we have gained an integrating, intuitive mode of thinking based on the rational concepts of yin and yang. In the West, we have gained a technical and scientific process. Health in its true sense is a dynamic balance of both."
